Making Progress

A fun place to be this time of year. My little sewing room.  Warm since the boiler is in the next room, well lit with my Ottlite.  All supplies and nostalgic treasures around me, a little music.  Ahh

Michigan winter days are gray and gloomy.  Pretty caught up on my fav shows.  Although Mrs. Maisel season 3 is up next.  Sewing, crafting and cooking/baking on the agenda.  I’m obsessed with Mary Berry.  Challenging baking is so worth it.  That Lemon drizzle cake is to die for.

Currently embroidering those fab Twelve Days of Christmas felt ornaments while the Mr. is watching his fav political news.  Yawn.
I’m finishing up day 5.  Sooo cute.
Fresh home from Chicago, spending: time with lovely ladies and just spending in general.  😬

Heading to S Haven today for a lookie Lou at a property recently acquired.  Figuring out how to proceed.  Gotta day, “hello house” to our little cottage awaiting our return.  The mighty Lake Michigan has been acting up, or should I say gobbling up lakeshore while the winds churn it up.  We may have lakefront property one day 🤞🏻
Our sweet pups will come along to keep those wabbits in line.  Also I hear it’s time to scatter poppy seeds.  Wait, what?  That’s what I’m reading.
Visited with my old friend CLM Edgerton this morning.  Something about her just steadies my boat 😊

Productive Surfing

 April 22, 2023 All of us have spent lots of time "surfing".  Quietly watching other people enjoying life, crafting, sports, Influencers, etc.  So what do we get out of it?  not much other than an escape from whatever is going on in our lives.  Is it bad? not really, just a wasting of precious time.  Now do we need to be productive at all times?  Noooo.  But can we develop something out of it? I say yes.  Its a search engine for interesting things.  Whether Hollywood gossip or hobbies.  It an engagement in people, places and things.  Ideas and advice we didn't know we needed.  All good, except for just one thing.  Can we find a way to feel better about this time spent on "unproductive" surfing? Get set, go

 My own creative inspiration has to begin somewhere, so here goes…. I’m very intrigued by Where Women Create, It’s a grand concept, paired with curiosity about what inspires the creative endeavors we all are seeking.  This book by Jo Packham, has provided me with a boost.  My own sewing room, craft nook, laboratory (my son calls it) is in need of some improvements.   It’s functional, quiet, warm and cozy, it is a place of a collection of treasures, bits of nostalgia, odds and ends of craft supplies that I may or may not ever use.  My old beloved Elna, a server, ironing board, bulletin board, cabinets and shelves, a cuckoo clock shell, my Dads sailing trophy tray, lots of fabrics, embroidery floss, wool felts, interfacing, buttons and thread.   These are just a few of the many catagories I have surrounded myself with.  It’s my “real” self.  It’s in my basement of my old house that I’ve lived in and loved for more than 30 years. Gettin it done

deadlines........ there is nothing more fun and pressure filled than the "gettin it done" for Christmas time of year. every year I promise myself I will start earlier and avoid the pre christmas pressure cooker.  I never do.  what fun is that? my sewing/craft room is piled high with idea materials and a few projects underway.  love it.  i am lucky to have this little crevice to make myself happy and make stuff.  always a good feeling to make things.  it makes me feel good.  love to noodle on an idea and figure out how to make it.  i gravitate to fiber crafts mostly.  my gene make up drives me to sew and embroider.  lots of exposure to these pursuits growing up with a sewing teacher in the house. i recommend the nyt cooking subscription my sister gifted me last year. its the bomb.  no more blank "what to make for dinner" days.  making stuff includes food of course.  some are more popular with the mr. than others. he'...
